THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Johh Lambert
My interest in photography began at junior school when I became a member of the photographic club learning to develop black and white film and make prints. The art of patience as well as observation came to me via my late father who was a keen ornithologist. I can remember him saying to me one day, what a shame it was that many people go from the cradle to the grave but will never have taken the time to sit and watch and marvel at the beauty of the common house sparrow or a robin.

I have always felt spiritually at one with nature whether out on the hills or forest or in the highland wilderness it is for me my comfort zone.

As a young man I started training as a stockbroker but made a career change to agriculture and farming spending time at The Royal Agricultural College and then various mixed farms as well as running a game farm. My career then took me into the property world and estate agency and I became a partner in a Glasgow agency and then an associate and board member in one of Scotland’s largest property companies.
Then for twenty years I lived and worked on the Isle of Skye and as chief executive I ran the forty-five thousand acre MacLeod Estate and the world famous Dunvegan Castle throughout those years.

During my life my camera has always been at my side and eventually the creative artist within me finally won through. I am now a freelance creative photographer completely self-taught and always learning. I live and work north of Inverness City, in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, the Scottish highlands. I travel extensively as well around the UK and areas of the world searching for photographic opportunities to which I can bring my own creative photographic style and artistic energy.

I have created a series of six photographic books called “Thoughtful Journeys” and these are currently awaiting publication. I sell my work directly to the public from my own retail stands in Inverness City, mainly over the Christmas & festive period. I have this my website which generates sales and I also sell and exhibit at “The Dairy” an excellent restaurant just off the A9 south of Inverness.

I exhibited in the “Eden Court Gallery” in Inverness City for two months in 2014 my exhibition was called “Scottish Collection & More” and was over all three floors of the Gallery generating considerable interest and an excellent level of sales.

I continue to travel extensively and will be visiting Cambodia, Vietnam & Thailand as well as Brunei in the early part of 2016.
